My favorite band of all time, Medeski, Martin, and Wood, announced a new children's album in the works, "The Kids are Alright." I fell in love with MMW because of their sporadic, bouncy experimentation with sounds on traditional instruments--Hammond organ, drums, and stand-up bass. All band members are insanely classically trained musicians let loose and sizzle with a funky sound that can't be imitated. I've often thought that MMW's music is what imagination sounds like.They'll do for children's music what Vince Guaraldi did for Snoopy.
